About the Gold Daughters
Jordan and Ilaura Reeves aren’t just the owners of Gold Daughters, they are the Gold Daughters! These sisters were born and raised in the golden heart city of Fairbanks where their quest for gold started at a very young age. They were raised on the creeks, looking for gold and helping their dad pan through his clean ups.
Jordan and Ilaura opened Gold Daughters in 2014 with just a small walk up window where they would greet customers and sell tee-shirts and, of course, cupcakes! Since then they have doubled the amount of troughs for panning and now do business out of a rustic gift shop where they carry many local and Alaskan made products.
Before they opened Gold Daughters, both the Reeves girls played softball at Division I programs. Jordan played for the University of Oregon and Ilaura played for the University of South Florida. The Gold Daughters come back to Fairbanks every year to enjoy the beautiful summers and play in the dirt. Jordan and Ilaura feel very lucky to have a job where they can share their passion for prospecting through the activity that Fairbanks was founded on – with people from all over the world!
Oh yeah… they were on TV!
In 2012, Jordan, Ilaura and the rest of the Reeves’ family starred in an international show on National Geographic called Goldfathers.
The show focused on the Reeves family as they spent the summer prospecting for gold. By the end of summer, they had successfully recovered several ounces of gold… by hand!
